Vefr
Weave or Weaving · Wall and Ceiling Installation
Vefr is a bespoke installation of hand-forged iron branches and leaves, designed to follow the architecture of a room. Flowing from wall to ceiling, its organic composition transforms the surrounding space into part of the artwork itself.

Design language
When art becomes part of the architecture.
Vefr takes its name from the Old Norse word for weaving. The name reflects the way its branches move through a space, connecting surfaces in one continuous sculptural composition.
Rather than hanging from a single point like a traditional chandelier, Vefr can extend along a wall and continue across the ceiling. Hand-forged branches follow the character of the room, accompanied by individually shaped leaves that bring texture, movement and depth to the ironwork.
The relationship between the installation and its surroundings is central to the design. The branches may frame an architectural feature, draw the eye across a room or create a flowing connection between wall and ceiling. Light and shadow add another dimension, revealing the textures of the leaves and the changing forms of the composition.
The illustrated examples also incorporate candlelight within the ironwork, demonstrating one possible decorative element without defining the installation's overall form or purpose.
Every Vefr begins with a conversation about the space it will inhabit. Its proportions, direction and composition are developed in response to the room rather than determined by a fixed set of dimensions.
Vefr brings the natural language of the Grein collection into the architecture itself — a work conceived not simply to occupy a space, but to become part of it.
Craftsmanship
Vefr is conceived as a site-specific installation, with its hand-forged iron branches forming a continuous composition across the surfaces of a room.
The relationship between the branches, leaves and surrounding architecture is considered during the design process. Changes in direction, the spacing of the branches and the density of the leaves help establish a natural sense of movement as the composition passes from wall to ceiling.
Each leaf is individually shaped, with textured surfaces that reflect the work of the hammer. The branching forms are developed to create a coherent sculptural expression rather than a repeated or predetermined pattern.
The final design is developed following a discussion of the intended space. Its scale, arrangement and individual details are considered as part of the commission.
As every installation is created for its setting, each Vefr has its own character, shaped by both the craftsmanship and the architecture around it.
