Hringr
Ring or Circle · Napkin Ring
Hringr is a small, branch-inspired napkin ring from the Grein collection. A delicate circle of hand-forged iron that holds a napkin in place while bringing an organic detail to the table.
Grein by Jens Dalsgaard
Design language
A small detail in the rhythm of the table.
Hringr takes its name from the Old Norse word for ring or circle. The name reflects both its form and its purpose at the table: to gather and hold, without demanding more space than necessary.
Within its closed, circular form, the artistic language of Grein emerges through leaves that interrupt the perfect ring and give the iron an organic flow. Small enough to complement the table setting, yet distinctive enough to feel like a considered part of it.
Hringr brings textile and metal together in a simple composition, expressing the collection's nature-inspired forms on a scale that fits in the palm of your hand.
Craftsmanship
Hringr is formed as a closed ring, designed to hold a napkin while its leaves break the circular outline and bring the form to life.
At this intimate scale, every detail matters. The transition between the rounded curve and the leaf, the thickness of the iron and the way the ring feels in the hand all contribute to the finished piece. Here, craftsmanship reveals itself not through size, but through precision.
Because each piece is individually shaped by hand, subtle variations in the curve and leaf details are a natural part of the result.
