Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 7 October 2026
These Terms and Conditions apply to purchases and orders from House of Dalsgaard.
House of Dalsgaard creates hand-forged artworks and functional art. Our website serves as a digital atelier, a presentation of our designs and a point of contact between customers and House of Dalsgaard.
The website is not an online shop. Displaying a work or a price on the website does not, in itself, constitute a binding purchase agreement.
1. Business Information

2. Orders and Formation of an Agreement
An order from House of Dalsgaard generally begins with an enquiry or discussion about the desired work.
Depending on the work, this discussion may cover design, size, materials, finish, individual requirements, price, delivery and expected production time.
An enquiry submitted through the website is not, in itself, a binding order.
A binding agreement is formed only when the customer and House of Dalsgaard have accepted the specific order and its essential terms, including the agreed work and price.
For individually customised or made-to-order works, the agreed specifications will be set out in the relevant agreement or order confirmation.
3. Prices
All prices quoted to private customers are in Danish kroner (DKK), including VAT, unless expressly stated otherwise.
The price of a particular work may depend on its size, material consumption, complexity, finish, individual customisation and any delivery or installation.
If delivery, installation or other services are not included in the quoted price, these will be agreed separately before the order becomes binding.
For an individual order, the price stated in the finally accepted agreement applies.
4. Payment
Payment terms are agreed in connection with the individual order.
For made-to-order or individually customised works, House of Dalsgaard may require full or partial payment, including a deposit, before production begins.
Any outstanding balance and its due date will be specified in the individual agreement.
House of Dalsgaard may not begin production until the agreed advance payment or deposit has been received.
5. Handmade Works
House of Dalsgaard works are made by hand.
Hand forging involves natural variations. Minor differences may occur in, for example:
- Shape
- Texture
- Surface
- Forging marks
- Dimensions
- Position and appearance of organic details
- Finish
Such differences may therefore occur.
These variations are a natural result of the craftsmanship involved and contribute to the individuality of each work.
A handmade work will therefore not necessarily be completely identical to photographs, previous examples or other works based on the same design.
This does not limit the customer's statutory rights if the goods are actually defective.
6. Signature, Limited and One of One
House of Dalsgaard may classify designs or works as Signature, Limited or One of One, among other categories.
The classification describes the status of the work or design in the House of Dalsgaard register.
Signature
Signature designs form part of House of Dalsgaard's ongoing design collection and may be produced in multiple examples.
Because each example is handmade, natural variations may occur between individual works based on the same design.
Limited
Limited designs are produced within a defined limited edition where a specific edition size has been stated.
Each physical work is registered individually and may be documented with its own HOD-ID and certificate.
One of One
A One of One work is created as an individual work and registered as such by House of Dalsgaard.
The classification relates to the specific work and its registered identity.
7. Production Time
As the works are handmade, production times may vary.
The expected production time is agreed when the order is placed.
A stated production time may be an estimate unless a specific delivery date has expressly been agreed.
If a significant delay occurs, House of Dalsgaard will contact the customer as soon as possible.
8. Delivery and Collection
The delivery method is agreed for each order and may depend on the size, weight and nature of the work.
Subject to agreement, a work may, for example, be:
- Collected from {brand}
- Delivered by {brand}
- Shipped using a suitable carrier
Any delivery or transport costs will be disclosed and agreed before the order is placed if they are not already included in the price.
The customer should inspect the work on receipt and contact House of Dalsgaard as soon as possible if it has been damaged in transit or does not correspond to what was agreed.
9. Right of Withdrawal
The right of withdrawal depends on how the agreement was concluded and the type of work concerned.
In distance sales to consumers, a 14-day right of withdrawal generally applies. For goods, this period generally begins on the day the customer takes physical possession of the goods.
Made-to-Order and Personally Customised Works
The right of withdrawal does not apply to the supply of goods made to the customer's specifications or clearly personalised, provided the conditions for the statutory exception are met.
This follows from section 18(2)(3) of the Danish Consumer Contracts Act (forbrugeraftaleloven).
This may be relevant, for example, where a work is made specifically for a customer according to individually agreed dimensions, design or other personal specifications.
House of Dalsgaard informs the customer before the agreement is concluded if the specific order falls within this exception.
The fact that a work is handmade does not, in itself, remove the right of withdrawal.
Works Without Individual Customisation
If a purchase is subject to distance-selling rules and the work does not fall within a lawful exception, the customer generally has a 14-day right of withdrawal.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the customer must notify House of Dalsgaard by an unequivocal statement before the withdrawal period expires.
Further information about returns and any return costs will be provided in connection with purchases where the right of withdrawal applies.
Returns Following Withdrawal
If you have a right of withdrawal and wish to exercise it, you must notify House of Dalsgaard by an unequivocal statement before the withdrawal period expires.
After giving notice, you generally have 14 days to return the work. Unless otherwise agreed, the customer bears the direct cost of returning it. For works that cannot reasonably be returned by ordinary post because of their size, weight or nature, the expected return costs or a reasonable estimate will be disclosed before the agreement is concluded where required.
The customer is responsible for any reduction in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the work.
House of Dalsgaard will reimburse the amount due under applicable law no later than 14 days after receiving notice of withdrawal. For sales of goods, reimbursement may be withheld until the work has been received back or the customer has provided evidence of return, whichever occurs first.
10. Cancellation Before Completion
For made-to-order works, the customer should contact House of Dalsgaard as soon as possible if they wish to change or cancel an order.
The stage of production may affect whether changes or cancellation are possible and the costs already incurred.
If the order is covered by a statutory right of withdrawal, this section does not limit that right.
11. Statutory Rights in Respect of Defects
For consumer purchases, the provisions on defects in the Danish Sale of Goods Act (købeloven) apply.
As a private consumer, you have a two-year statutory right to complain about defects from delivery of the goods. This period cannot be contractually shortened to the consumer's detriment.
This right covers faults and defects present at delivery or whose underlying cause was present at the time of delivery.
If you discover a possible defect, you should contact House of Dalsgaard within a reasonable time and describe the issue, preferably with relevant photographs.
A complaint made within two months of discovering the defect will always be considered timely.
Depending on the circumstances, the Danish Sale of Goods Act may provide remedies including repair, replacement, a proportionate price reduction or termination of the purchase. For an individually handmade work, replacement may in practice be impossible or disproportionate; the appropriate remedy will therefore be assessed under the Act.
12. What Is Not Necessarily a Defect?
Natural variations resulting from hand forging and the characteristics of the particular material do not, in themselves, constitute a defect.
The same applies to ordinary patination, natural wear or changes caused by improper use, insufficient maintenance, unsuitable storage or exposure to conditions for which the work was not intended.
Whether something constitutes a defect is always assessed individually under applicable law.
This section does not limit the customer's statutory rights in respect of defects.
13. Materials, Surfaces and Maintenance
Works may have different surface treatments and finishes. Details of the individual work are provided in its description, the agreement and, where applicable, its accompanying certificate.
House of Dalsgaard ironworks may, among other things, be protected with lacquer.
Over time, surfaces may be affected by use, placement, moisture, temperature, cleaning and ordinary wear.
Any maintenance instructions should be followed to preserve the work as well as possible.
14. Installation
Some House of Dalsgaard works are intended for wall mounting or another fixed position.
The individual agreement specifies whether installation is included, offered as a separate service or to be carried out by the customer or a third party.
Installation by {brand}
Where House of Dalsgaard has undertaken installation, the work is performed based on conditions that can be identified at the installation site.
Before installation, the customer must disclose relevant conditions that are not readily apparent and that may affect the work, such as concealed utilities, unusual wall structures or other building conditions.
If the actual conditions require different or additional work beyond what was agreed, House of Dalsgaard will inform the customer before any additional work is carried out and charged for.
House of Dalsgaard is responsible under the general rules of Danish law for faults or damage caused by defective installation performed by House of Dalsgaard.
Installation by the Customer
If the customer installs the work themselves, any supplied installation instructions must be followed, and the installation method and fittings must be suitable for the work's weight, construction and mounting surface.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the wall, ceiling or other structure is suitable for installation.
House of Dalsgaard is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect or unsafe installation by the customer, including unsuitable fittings or attachment to a surface that cannot support the work.
This does not limit House of Dalsgaard's responsibility where damage results from a defect in the work itself or inadequate or incorrect installation instructions supplied by House of Dalsgaard.
Installation by a Third Party
If the customer chooses to have a third party install the work, the installation agreement is generally between the customer and that third party.
House of Dalsgaard is not responsible for faults or damage caused by the third party's installation work.
This does not limit House of Dalsgaard's responsibility for defects in the work itself or any mounting components or instructions supplied by House of Dalsgaard.
Placement and Safety
The work must be installed and positioned in accordance with its intended use.
Works featuring hand-forged branches, leaves or other projecting parts may have pointed or sharp sections and should be positioned so they do not pose an unnecessary risk. Works with such features should be placed out of reach of young children and pets.
For works intended to hold clothing, for example, the mounting height and position should also be chosen so garments do not come into unnecessary contact with decorative pointed elements.
15. HOD-ID and Registration
An individual physical work may be entered in the House of Dalsgaard works register and assigned a unique HOD-ID.
The HOD-ID identifies the specific physical work in the House of Dalsgaard system.
The registration may include information such as:
- Design
- Classification
- Year of manufacture
- Material and finish
- Work documentation
- Certificate
- Registered ownership and provenance
The HOD-ID forms part of the work's identity and generally remains with it when ownership changes.
16. Certificate and Authenticity
Registered works may be associated with an authenticity system and a certificate issued by House of Dalsgaard.
The certificate documents the registered information about the specific work at the time of issue.
A certificate is associated with its work and should not be used as documentation for another work.
House of Dalsgaard may offer public verification of an HOD-ID or certificate status without disclosing the registered owner's private contact details.
17. Ownership Registration
If a work is registered to a customer's House of Dalsgaard account, the record shows who is registered as the owner in the House of Dalsgaard system.
The registration primarily forms part of the work's documentation and provenance.
Digital ownership registration does not replace ordinary proof of purchase or the legal rules governing ownership rights.
18. Transfer to a New Owner
If a registered work is later sold, gifted or otherwise transferred, the registered owner may use the House of Dalsgaard transfer feature to register the new owner.
A change of ownership does not change the work's HOD-ID.
Previous periods of ownership may be retained as part of the work's provenance, while personal data is handled in accordance with the House of Dalsgaard Privacy Policy.
House of Dalsgaard is not a party to a private transaction between a current owner and a subsequent buyer unless House of Dalsgaard expressly participates in that transaction.
19. Images and Presentation
Product and work images on the website are intended to provide as accurate an impression as possible.
Colours and surfaces may nevertheless appear different depending on lighting, photography and screen settings, among other factors.
Because the works are handmade, photographs of previous examples cannot be taken as a guarantee that a later handmade example will be visually identical.
20. Personal Data
When you contact House of Dalsgaard, create an account, order a work or are registered as an owner, we process personal data.
You can read about our processing of personal data, retention, works register, ownership history and your rights in our Privacy Policy.

21. Complaints
If you experience a problem with a work or order, please contact us so that we can try to find a solution.

If we cannot reach a solution, a consumer may, subject to the applicable rules, be able to refer the matter to the Danish Consumer Complaints Mediation Team (Mæglingsteamet for Forbrugerklager) and potentially the Danish Consumer Complaints Board (Forbrugerklagenævnet) through Nævnenes Hus.
The applicable financial thresholds and conditions are published by Nævnenes Hus.
22. Governing Law
Agreements with House of Dalsgaard are governed by Danish law.
For consumers, this does not limit any mandatory rights the customer may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
